Wrapping up all the M.Hulot gifts has got me in the Christmas spirit and I thought I'd take a moment to share one of my favourite photography books, Lartigue's Winter Pictures, compiled by Elisabeth Foch and Martine d'Astier de la Vigerie.

Photographed at the beginning of the  20thC the images document a period in time when winter sports were only for the lucky few. Capturing the joyousness of new snow, the abandonment of holidays and the chicest winter wardrobes, don't they just make you feel festive and happy? Here's hoping for some snow to lose ourselves in this Christmas!

'What's in the Russo Mini Bag' is the first in a small series of stop motion films showing you what you can fit in M.Hulot bags. A little peek into the world of M.Hulot, as well as the capacity of our mini bags, We hope that you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.

The film was shot by the brilliant (and very patient) Band Films, at their headquarters in Bristol. Music was supplied by Tunng, who kindly let us use our favourite single of theirs , the 2007 track Bullets, which we think provides a truly individual feel.

The most talked about piece of our Spring/Summer 2015 collection is our Gia cross body bag, a brand new addition to our popular range of mini bags. Though originally due to launch in the New year we couldn't help thinking they made the ideal bag for the festive season. We have been working hard (along with our Italian tanneries and fantastic Hackney leather workers) to get them to you by early December. They will be available on the M.Hulot website, at various Christmas pop-ups (more about these later) and at the brilliant Darkroom.

We are thrilled to be selling our wares at Design Junction, one of the biggest events of The London Design Festival. As part of a collection of ground floor pop-up shops, we are sharing a stand with jeweller Eleanor Bolton, whose beautiful coiled rope designs perfectly complement our crafted leather bags and accessories.

Design Junction will be the first time we have shown the new AW14 collection to the public and the first chance to purchase our brand new men's small leather goods range directly. So it seems the new season is upon us already! A bit more sun wouldn't go  a miss, but then who could not be excited by the deep berry and leathery tones of Autumn. Take a look at the website for new arrivals, with our current favourite being the brand new mini satchel, the Russo.

Monsieur Hulot comes to Little Paris! Our French namesake would be delighted with our sample sale venue, the very beautiful gallic lifestyle store on Crouch End's Park Road. Our bags and accessories will be nestled amongst the Vintage furniture at the end of the shop, handpicked by store founder Helene.

Selling in renowed London boutiques and internationally, M.Hulot designer Anna Kreeger has long wanted to introduce her designs to the community in which she lives and works. For those coming from further afield see Anna's top picks of how to make a day of it:

Yesterday I went to drop an order to Triangle store, our newest stockist on Hackney's Chatsworth Rd. Forming the three points of the triangle are store collaborators Tori Mullan, Mary Wagstaff and Matthew Naylor; a visual merchandiser, ceramicist and graphic designer respectively.

Carrying a selection of design and lifestyle products with fashion accessories, the store is cemented by graphic, simple styles and pops of bright colours alongside steely blues, greys and naturals.

On my first visit to the shop I was struck by the wonderful product mix but also learnt there's more to the appeal of Triangle :

Location
Not as achingly cool or hectic as other parts of Hackney, Homerton has it's own thing going on. Importantly, there is a good balance of old and new businesses and a thriving Saturday street market...which led me to deduce- there's nothing you can't get on the Chatsworth Road!

Change
The Triangle team regularly update the store, sometimes redecorating and remerchandising on a weekly basis. With a local and loyal customer base they realise the the importance of change in ensuring repeat custom.

Nurture
On the side of small labels, the team understand the restrictions and difficulties faced. Mary spoke with me about helping one of her designers find a studio space, as well as collaborating on runs of product that would not otherwise have been possible. It's so refreshing to see a shop with a conscience!

Product knowledge
The passion of the trio instantly comes across as they tell you of pieces sourced on a trip to Holland, working with local designers met on Broadway Market and those that stood out at busy trade shows. I love a brand story, and the personal touch at Triangle ensures these stories are told.

Running your own design company often means that you have very little time to 'design' as time is taken up with general running, costing, production, marketing...the list goes on! On those days when I can actually spend time creating (and running your own business means you can create what YOU want) I literally fall in love with what I am working on, and there is nothing more joyful than selecting the colours.

Something very surprising to me has been discovering I love pink. I guess I always associated it with extreme girliness and naturally turned my back on it. But, the wonderful thing about working with leather is that is has an incredible depth of colour and pink and nude tones become something completely different, something more subtle and reminiscent of a raw unfinished skin. I was inspired by this photograph of Barbara Hepworth's studio, the faded pink artist's smock standing out, yet perfectly complementing the greys and muted tones of the rest.
Similarly to leather, ceramics always get me. Those slips, glazes and earthenware tones have such character and variation- I could stare and take them in forever. A couple of the images on the board are from an afternoon spent at the Victoria and Albert ceramics rooms which are well worth a visit.

The image of the smoking chimneys is taken from the book 'The Roma Journeys' by Joakim Eskildsen. The book saw Joakim travel to 7 different countries to document the lives of the Romas and the images are not only unique in their subject matter but also in the light and colour he captures. I often draw on this book for colour harmony and tones.

No doubt a few things will change before the new pieces are put into work, but while the thrill of the  palette is still fresh, I thought I would give you a hint and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I am.

We shot at The Victoria Stakes, my local, just at the bottom of Muswell Hill which has the most beautiful, light filled dining room. I thought you would like to see these outtakes to get a flavour of things to come. This is Karin, who has her own jewellery label, Karin Andreasson. At the moment we both have a bit of a colour blocking and geometry obsession so it's always a pleasure to catch up, talk ideas and swoon over our latest palettes. Her current range features small 'connected' circles filled with coloured enamel, and a series of 'points' mapping out a triangular shape. I love that they are stand out pieces, but are so easy to wear with everyday outfits.

Karin has a bit of a collection of M.Hulot bags, but when she's running around with her children (lovely Uma featured here) she needs a small bag to keep her valuables close and the Strapped Howe fits the bill!

Last book read?

Gigantic cardboard shoes. That's the first thing I noticed, and fell in love with, when Folklore first opened on Islington's Upper St in 2012. Well, that.... and an amazing outlook, aesthetic and some seriously desirable pieces.

The shoes, by Mark O'Brien, were commissioned by Folklore founder, Danielle Reid to use up the material waste from opening the shop. How fitting for a store dedicated to better living through sustainability, with attention to materials, manufacture, craftsmanship and design stories.
With all of this in mind, I was thrilled when Danielle picked out our red and navy paint stripe leather goods. Made in England( Whitechapel to be exact) using Italian leather, the pieces are hand screen printed in Hackney. You can see the workmanship in the variation of tone and density of the stripes, and this is what makes them special; they sit so nicely amongst Danielle's product choices and merchandising.
